Ebb Tide River Release, Yamba New South Wales. Sea Lift 1
Australian Barge Hire was engaged on the Yamba ebb tide release project in the Clarence River Estuary. A significant spread of equipment was utilised including Jack up barge Sea Lift 1, Sea Locks, and the support vessels Sea Rib and Sea Punt. During the course of the project a coffer dam was built in the Clarence River estuary to provide a working area for installing the diffuser, and the associated pipeline under the river bed.
An excavator was mounted on Sea Lift 1, which was utilised as an overwater platform for the construction of the coffer dam. Sea Lift 1 was also utilised as a platform to assist with the installation of the pipeline. The Sea Lock modular barges were also used for towing the required construction materials to the coffer dam during the project. Significant tidal effects where felt from the wave activity, and as a result the jack up barge was manned twenty four hours so as to continually monitor the stability and make adjustments as required.
